About Us

Invisible World is a family import, retail and wholesale business dealing with other family businesses in South America and China. Our products are hand-made and are generally of raw materials indigenous to their countries of origin. Silk, cashmere and alpaca and Pima Cotton have been trade items of their respective countries for hundreds or thousands of years, and we see ourselves as continuing that tradition.

Invisible World was started in 1984 and was originally called Paititi Woolens after the legendary lost Inca city of Paititi. Starting in Ecuador and Peru, the business gradually expanded to Bolivia, Uruguay, Argentina and Mexico. We began importing silk and cashmere from China in 1992 and became Invisible World in 1994.

Why is it called Invisible World?

The store is called Invisible World because our products are made of exotic fibers from far-away places. China, Peru, Otavalo, La Paz: all together the goods in our store form a map of an invisible world of the imagination.
